Guided Tissue Regeneration
This surgical procedure attempts to "regrow” the previously lost bone around a tooth
that has been caused by periodontal disease. This techniques commonly utilizes a
membrane and bone graft material. Once the bone graft material is placed in the
deteriorated area of the bone, a membrane is inserted over the area. Some of these
membranes are dissolvable and some require removal. Other regenerative procedures
involve the use of bioactive gels, which promote bone regrowth.
